Corn Shrimps Nuggets

Today I want to show you another very healthy fast food alternative. Personally, I am not really a fan of chicken nuggets – even when they are high quality. And therefore these here have not so much in common with the classic nuggets. But don’t worry, they are probably a hundred times tastier in return. 🙂

But why are these nuggets so super healthy? On the one hand, we don’t deep fry them, obviously, instead we just roast them in a frying pan. However, the taste result is still phenomenal. On the other hand, the nuggets consist of only four healthy ingredients: Corn, shrimps, oat flour and eggs.

Healthy nuggest for Appetizers, Snacks or the Side

You can make these nuggets not only for dinner or lunch – for example, as a side dish for a salad. They are also, in my opinion, the perfect savory snack or awesome appetizer. Plus, an incredible number of dips go well with these. You could serve them with guacamole, a salsa, or even hummus. Or you can use the incredibly delicious Moroc’n’Roll sauce from Spicenerds (advertising).

Corn Shrimp Nuggets

  • 100 g shrimps if frozen, then defrost them well and drain
  • 50 g canned corn
  • 1 egg
  • 25 g oat flour alternatively regular flour
  • salt, pepper, garlic powder
  • dip of your choice see my suggestions above


  • Place the shrimp and corn in a food processor and chop them thoroughly. Then add the egg and flour and mix well. Season with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Heat a large, non stick pan and spray it with a little non stick cooking spray or oil. Using a medium ice cream scoop or a tablespoon, shape the nuggets into about 8 to 9 equal-sized balls, place in the pan and flatten slightly. Fry the nuggets on both sides for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove the nuggets from the pan and serve warm or cold with your choice of dip.

  • carbohydrates: 22 g
  • protein: 27 g
You can easily double the amount of the ingredients and serve them as an appetizer for four people.
