This easy sugar free mulled wine recipe taste just like a traditional spiced wine, but it will save you a ton of calories. Therefore, it’s the perfect lightened up cocktail or aperitif for your holiday parties or the ultimate drink for a cozy winter evening.
Pour the tea bag with a cup of boiling water and leave to steep for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, squeeze the juice of one orange, wash the second one thoroughly and cut it into slices.
Add the red wine, spices and the tea to a pot and heat it gently over low to medium heat for about 5 minutes. Then add the orange juice and half of the orange slices (set aside four slices for decoration). Let it heat for another 10 minutes, but do not let it boil or steam. If possible, use a kitchen thermometer and keep it under 80°C or 175°F.
Then add the erythritol and stir well. Next, pour in the rum and let steep for another 2 minutes.
Serve
Pour the mulled wine through a fine sieve and then divide it among 4 cups. Garnish them with orange slices, peel or cinnamon sticks and serve while still hot.

Instead of erythritol you can also use some stevia. Since stevia tastes much sweeter than erythritol you probably need less of it. So, keep that in mind. Alternatively, you can also use xylitol, agave syrup or honey. Those sweeteners have lower calories than sugar but of course some more than a calorie sweetener like erythritol.
