Calorie Friendly Tiramisu Without Mascarpone

The all-time favorite dessert as a calorie friendly alternative without the high calorie mascarpone cream cheese. Instead, we’re using vanilla pudding, Greek yogurt and egg whites. Kochutensilien

  • 1 medium-sized casserole dish
  • 1 hand mixer or kitchen machine
  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 whisk

Zutaten
  

  • 320 g vanilla pudding * (~11 to 12 oz)
  • 350 g low-fat Greek yogurt (2-5% fat) (~8.2 oz or 1½ cups)
  • 40 g erythritol or xylitol - processed in a blender to make powdered sugar (~1.4 oz or ¼ cup) alternatively same amout of powdered sugar
  • 2 egg whites (~2.3 oz)
  • 1 shot of espresso**
  • 1 shot of amaretto** (20 cl)
  • 150-200 g ladyfingers *** (~5.3 to 7 oz)
  • some baking cacao to serve

No-Mascarpone-Tiramisu-Cream

  • Prepare the vanilla pudding according to the package direction (or if using my protein pudding recipe, the directions as indicated over there). Transfer the pudding into a deep dish, cover the surface with plastic wrap and let it cool down completely.
  • Beat the egg whites until stiff. Mix the yogurt with the “powdered sugar” until smooth. Add the vanilla pudding and combine it well with the yogurt cream bevor carefully fold in the beaten egg whites.

Layer the Tiramisu

  • Mix the espresso with amaretto. Drizzle the ladyfingers with the coffee and place them side by side in the baking dish. Spread a bit less than half of the cream on top of the first ladyfinger layer and smooth it out.
  • Repeat the process for a second layer, then spread the remaining cream evenly on top. Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for three to four hours.

Serve

  • Dust the Tiramisu with the cocoa before serving. Leftovers will keep for two to three days in the refrigerator.

Notizen

*You can use a store-bought vanilla pudding form the refrigerator section, a pudding powder package from the baking section or you can use about two and a half servings of my high protein pudding recipe.
**Use a strong filter coffee instead of espresso and bitter almond flavoring instead of amaretto. If children are eating along, substitute both with hot chocolate.
***Instead of ladyfingers, you can prepare a lower-sugar sponge cake. More details can be found in the post.
